Fall Dog Walk and Costume Party — Freedom Greyhound Rescue will sponsor the two-mile event at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at Sunny Lake, 885 Mennonite Road, Aurora, during the city's Family Fall Festival. Doggie trick-or-treating will be held along the trail and there will be Boo Treat bags for all registered pooches. Registration is $3 per dog with a $5 maximum fee. Dog games and costume judging will take place following the walk. The event benefits Freedom Greyhound Rescue and local animal rescue groups. Shot clinic —The Summit County Health Department will offer rabies and other vaccinations for dogs and cats from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Green Recycling Center, 5383 Massillon Road. Veterinarians from PetGuards will provide the shots for dogs and cats only. Available shots are a rabies vaccine for 1- and 3-year-olds for $6; annual cat booster for $14; kitten shot, including wormer, for $10; feline leukemia shot for outdoor cats only for $16; dog annual booster for $14; adult dog shot for over 5-year-olds for $18 (good for three years); bordatella for $14; puppy shot including wormer for $10; and a microchip identification insertion for $19.95.
Telethon to benefit PAWSibilities Humane Society of Greater Akron — 2 to 5 p.m. Nov. 8 at Canal Park Akron Aeros Stadium. Broadcast live by Time Warner Cale Channel 23. Local businesses are invited to team up to participate in corporate challenges to raise ''canine and feline'' dollars to benefit the abused, neglected and discarded animals of Summit County.
