Roxie is still hanging in there, taking life one day at a time. She has her ups and downs right now. This past Tuesday she came down with a fever and after talking to her doctor, it sounded like she was septic which is a side effect of her chemo. We added a new medicine to clear up the infection, a fever reducer shot and I decided to add a laxative as well. The fever immediately went down and the next day Roxie finally took a poo.
Roxie is still eating and drinking, loves to go outside to go potty and smiles a lot. She does seem to be sleeping more often and instead of giving her medicine in pill form, we are liquefying it so she doesn't get so angry about the medicine. Roxie is also enjoying two sausage McMuffins every morning, although I help her a little with the muffin part since she is more interested in the meat and cheese and she also enjoys chicken salad for lunch. I look at it as this: I am happy she is eating and for my last moments on this earth, I would want to be happy and not have a care in the world!
It is hard trying to determine when I know it is time, but at this point she is happy and in no discomfort, so her and I are taking it one day at a time. Thank you to everyone for their prayers and well wishes, Roxie sends a smile your way. At this point, I do understand that every day is a gift and you never know what tomorrow will bring.
