ROSEVILLE, Mich. (AP) — Police say man suspected of killing a cat by putting it in a washing machine while burglarizing a house says he confessed he did it because the animal was "bothering" him.

Roseville police say they arrested 19-year-old Ty-Shawn Bost of Highland Park on Wednesday evening. Police say others are suspected in the case.

Police Chief James Berlin says Bost confessed after his arrest. He's charged with second-degree home invasion and torturing or killing an animal and faces arraignment at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Police say the break-in happened Monday as the suburban Detroit family was away.

Berlin says the 6-month-old cat named Ruby was put in the washing machine, which then was turned on.
