Therapy dogs at Akron Children’s Hospital
Hours and weeks of rehabilitation will often leave kids feeling dog tired, but they never seem to tire of the dogs.
In a new video by Akron Children’s Hospital, Kate Patton, a physical therapist at Akron Children's Hospital, is joined by Doggie Brigade handlers Don Weisel and Chris Witschey (and friends), as they discuss the role that man's best friend plays in helping kids recover after injuries and illnesses.
“A good therapy dog is a dog that comes into the hospital and immediately makes the kids feel comfortable,” said Weisel.
The dogs not only encourage and motivate the patients to make gains in their rehabilitation, but these pups are also always available for a quick cuddle when the going gets “ruff.”
