Upcoming area pet events

Mobile low-cost spay and neuter clinic — 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 6, NEFCO building, 180 E. South St., Akron. Cats Having Alterations Professionally (CHAP) Inc. is sponsoring the clinic for cats. Kittens and cats need to be at least 12 weeks old, in good health and weigh at least 3 pounds. Cost is $40 for males, $60 for females. Low-cost vaccines; flea, tapeworm and ear mite treatments; nail trimming; and ear tipping for feral cats will also be available. Registration is required. 330-724-6181.

Bow Wow Meow Luau Adopt-a-thon — 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 29, PAWSibilities, Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg. Adoption fees for dogs over the age of 6 months will be $55 and cats over 6 months will be $5. All animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, micro-chipped and include a 30-day free trial of pet insurance upon adoption. Celebrate Red, White & Zoo on the Fourth — 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 4, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, 3900 Wildlife Way. Event will feature red, white and blue holiday-themed enrichment treats for the animals. Guests can take a self-guided tour looking for red, white and blue animals such as the red kangaroo, red panda, white stork, white backed vulture, blue poison dart frog and blue ground dove.
