Cavaliers star rejects 'guy like that' as teammate

CLEVELAND: The chances were extremely slim anyway, but you can officially forget Stephon Marbury ever coming to the Cavaliers.
Marbury's future with the New York Knicks became cloudy this week, when he reportedly feuded with coach Isiah Thomas and left the Knicks on their current West Coast trip.
There was speculation, led by ESPN.com, that the Cavs might be interested in trading for him.
That speculation is over, and it was cleared up not by General Manager Danny Ferry, but by LeBron James.
''I couldn't have a guy like that on my team,'' James said flatly Wednesday.
Apart from Marbury's history of leading losing teams, his character issues and his giant contract that will pay him $42 million through next season, he has had a running feud with James.
Last season, the two traded barbs over their signature shoes: James' $150 Nike version and Marbury's $15 version. Over the summer, Marbury mocked James' hosting of the ESPYs on a New York Post blog when he wrote (verbatim):
''You want to make me the clown Im not the dude on the ESPYs, getting carried on a throne. Im not him. Im the good guy, not the bad guy. I dont want to be carried on the throne I just want to walk among the people.''

The clicking and popping continues in Donyell Marshall's wrist, so he remains sidelined. Marshall missed a seventh consecutive game Wednesday, resting his right wrist, and there is no timetable for his return.
The Cavs and Marshall are being vague publicly about the severity of the injury, calling it a sprain. A source said it appears Marshall probably will need surgery at some point, but he's hoping that rest and treatment will allow him to get through the season.
The team would say only that Marshall underwent another MRI exam Tuesday and was injected with dye for the test. Normally, such a procedure would be used to help evaluate the cartilage in the wrist. Marshall had surgery to repair cartilage in the wrist in 2000.
Sasha Pavlovic returned Wednesday after missing two games with back spasms. Devin Brown continued to play despite a fractured left pinkie finger, which is now crooked. He also has been dealing with a sore left knee from a collision with Brad Miller of the Kings in Sacramento last week.
There's method to Drew Gooden's hair madness this year. Last year, it was the infamous ducktail; now it's an unkempt beard. It stems from a bet he has with Washington Wizards guard DeShawn Stevenson. Both players live in Orlando in the offseason, and over the summer, they agreed to a contest: how long each could go without shaving.
''It's a competitive thing, and right now mine's longer,'' Gooden said. ''It's just a little wager. I know I'm going to win.''
