In the next few days, Jake Westbrook will return to the rotation and outfielder Shin-Soo Choo will be summoned from Buffalo with the hope he can move the offense forward.
But are any other roster alterations contemplated?
''There could be multiple things happening,'' manager Eric Wedge said. ''We're not afraid to do anything now. It's almost the end of May. They're going to figure it out, or we're going to have to make changes.''
STILL HOPING C.C. Sabathia, who has been supported by four runs in his past three starts, continued to talk up his lodge brothers who carry bats.
''This can't happen all year,'' he said. ''This team knows how good it is, and we know how good our clubhouse is. We know that eventually we're going to come out of this. We have guys in here who are some of the best players in the league.''
OTHER STUFF Since April 22, Sabathia is 3-3 with a 1.61 ERA in seven starts. . . . Ben Francisco is batting .395 in his past 11 games with eight doubles, two home runs and seven RBI. He leads the team in doubles with 11. . . . The Tribe is 4-5 in one-run decisions and 1-3 in extra innings.
FARM FACTS Jared Goedert hit his third homer of the year and Carlos Rivero had two doubles and a single plus one RBI, but Kinston lost 8-5 to Winston-Salem. . . . Joseph Mahalic (2-1, 4.30 ERA) gave up one unearned run and three hits in five innings, but Lake County lost 1-0 to Lexington.
