Ex-UA end would accept Miami trade

Jason Taylor wants to play one more season, even if it's with the Miami Dolphins.
The six-time Pro Bowl defensive end, who played at the University of Akron, denied reports that he demanded to be traded from the Dolphins, but did acknowledge for the first time that if Miami wants to move him, he would be receptive.
''I want to win in '08,'' Taylor said.
Taylor and the Dolphins have been estranged for weeks, partly over his decision to perform on ABC's Dancing With the Stars and not work out with teammates in South Florida. Last month, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said Taylor would miss all minicamps and training camp, without elaborating why.
Taylor met with Sparano last week and said he has a good relationship with the Dolphins' new coach but would not firmly commit Sunday to being with the Dolphins when training camp begins next month.
Track: Slow decision, fast race
• The newly anointed World's Fastest Man does not consider the 100-meter race his favorite. It wasn't even part of the normal routine for Usain Bolt of Jamaica until he pleaded with his coach to let him try it. He usually runs the 200. His coach, Glen Mills, finally relented, and Bolt ran 9.72 seconds Saturday night in New York, besting the old mark of 9.74 seconds.
• South African double-amputee Oscar Pistorius, 21, won the 100 and 400 meter races at the Dutch Open paralympic meet in Emmeloord, Netherlands, as he gears up for a bid to qualify for the Beijing Olympics. Pistorius won an appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport on May 16 that cleared him to compete alongside able-bodied athletes running on his J-shaped Cheetah blades.
• Dmitriy Karpov of Kazakhstan and Tatyana Chernova of Russia posted the best scores in the world this year to win the decathlon and heptathlon, respectively, at the Hypo Meeting in Goetzis, Austria.
• Russia's Ilia Frolov won the men's title at the modern pentathlon world championships in Budapest, Hungary, while Yahor Lapo of Belarus qualified for the Beijing Olympics by finishing third.
College: Arizona State advances
• Jackie Vasquez hit a three-run home run after slugger Kaitlin Cochran was hit with a pitch, leading Arizona State to a 3-1 win against Alabama in Oklahoma City and its first trip to the Women's College World Series finals. The Sun Devils will face Texas A&M tonight in the best-of-three championship. The Aggies beat Florida 1-0 on Kelsey Spittler's RBI triple down the right-field line in the ninth inning.
• Brown won its second consecutive NCAA women's rowing championship Sunday at Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif., , and Yale came from behind to win the Eights grand final for a second straight year.
Soccer: Euro 2008 sold out
• The European Championship in soccer is sold out. All 1.05 million tickets for the 31-match tournament in Austria and Switzerland, which starts Saturday, have been sold.
• Conor Casey and Tom McManus scored and the Colorado Rapids ended the six-game winning streak against them of visiting teams with a 2-1 win Sunday. On Saturday night, Jorge Flores and Jesse Marsch scored first-half goals a minute apart, and Chivas USA beat the visiting Columbus Crew 2-0 in Carson, Calif. Columbus lost its second consecutive game after compiling a seven-match unbeaten streak. The Crew (6-3-1) have failed to score in their last three games.
• Cristiano Ronaldo plans to end the uncertainty over his Manchester United future by Wednesday. Braced for a potential transfer request, manager Sir Alex Ferguson warned that United's American owners would banish marquee players like Ronaldo, the club's leading scorer, to the stands rather than sell top players. Ferguson has been infuriated by Real Madrid's attempts to attract the Portugal winger, and United has threatened to report the Spanish champion to FIFA, soccer's world governing body. ''I expect there will be news soon,'' Ronaldo said. ''In two or three days I'm going to announce a decision.''
Other: Spaniard wins Italy race
• Tour de France champion Alberto Contador of Spain wrapped up victory Sunday in the Giro d'Italia, becoming the first non-Italian to win the three-week bicycle race since 1996.
• Big Brown, the unbeaten colt who goes for the Triple Crown on Saturday in the Belmont Stakes, has another appointment today with hoof specialist Ian McKinlay. Big Brown missed three days of training last week with a slight crack on the inside of the left front hoof. McKinlay inserted steel sutures to pull the crack together and changed them Saturday. The final step: Seal up the crack with an acrylic and fiberglass patch.
• At least eight people suffocated at a crowded stadium during a soccer match between Gambia and host Liberia in Monrovia, a doctor and an aid worker said. The 33,000-seat Samuel K. Doe stadium was packed beyond capacity for the World Cup qualifying match. The rowdy crowd pushed up against a metal bar, causing the bar to snap and sending dozens of people careening onto the floor below. They fell onto others.
