If you plan to attend the state track and field championships Friday and Saturday at Ohio State, take heed: Parking will be hectic.
Along with the track championships, there will be graduation ceremonies at Ohio State's Jerome Schottenstein Center and St. John Arena that will produce high volumes of traffic on highways and streets around the campus.
The track meets begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday for Division III, 1 p.m. for Division II and 4:30 p.m. for Division I.
Ohio High School Athletic Association officials have plenty of suggestions to make your parking experience less stressful.
The first is that motorists should allow extra time to arrive at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, and they should follow suggested routes and parking locations.
Fans attending the track and field championships should use the Ackerman Road exit off state Route 315. Head east on Ackerman and turn right at the first light, which is Fred Taylor Drive. Free parking will be available in the Buckeye Lots near the stadium. Between 15,000 and 20,000 fans are expected to attend portions of the state meets that day.
Gates at the stadium open at 7:30 a.m.
