CALENDAR
• Today — The Northeast Ohio Catfish Angler's Tournament Series will present the Mosquito Lake Catfish Tournament hosted by Causeway Sporting Goods on the lake in Mecca, Ohio. Registration begins at 7 p.m. at Causeway's Boat Ramp. Tournament hours are 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. for the two-person team event. Entry fee is $35 per team. There is a six-fish limit on channel catfish. Fish must be alive to weigh in. This is a qualifying tournament for the 2008 Ohio Catfish Classic. Information: http://www.neocats.bravehost.com or 330-948-2018.
• June 26 — The Gander Mountain Fly Fishing Club will meet at Gander Mountain, 4938 Portage St. N.W., Jackson Township, from 7 to 8 p.m. Free. Information: 330-498-0995.
• June 28 — The North Industry Sportsman Club, 7825 Beth Ave. S.W., Bethlehem Township, Navarre, will host a Women in the Outdoors program. The Sippo Valley Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, along with the ODNR Division of Wildlife, provides interactive educational outdoor opportunities for women ages 14 and older. Courses include fishing, archery, plant identification, whittling, primitive cooking and self-defense. Cost is $45. Contact: Donna Hutmacher, 330-821-6136.
• July 8 — The Summit Sportsman's Association meets on the second Monday of the month at the Polish American Club on Dan Street at Glenwood Avenue in Akron from September through June. The club is a mixture of hunters and fishermen. Meetings start at 7:30 p.m. Guests are welcome. Contact: Larry Singleton, 330-753-4453.
• July 10 — The Goodyear Hunting & Fishing Club, 1221 Wingfoot Lake Road, Suffield Township, holds its meetings the second Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. New members are welcome. Contact: Bob Schilling, 330-882-4939.
• July 31 — Hunters wanting to participate in Ohio's fall controlled deer and waterfowl hunts, have until July 31 to submit permit applications for a random drawing. Hunters can submit their applications online at http://www.wildohio.com. The online fee is $3 per hunt. Mail-in applications are $5 per hunt. Fees are non-refundable. These special hunts are held each fall on selected public-use areas to provide additional hunting opportunities.

• Today, Sunday — Beaver Creek Sportsman Club, 1480 Washingtonville Road, Washingtonville, will host a 3-D archery target shoot the second Saturday and second Sunday of each month through September.
