Triple-A Buffalo

STATUS: The Bison are 37-44 and in fourth place in the International League North Division, 131/2 games behind new division-leader Pawtucket.

WHO'S HOT: Since returning from the disabled list, first baseman Michael Aubrey is batting .357 (5-for-14) with a double. In 21 games with Buffalo, he is hitting .321 (26-for-81) with nine runs scored, six doubles, a home run and seven RBI.

TRACKING CABRERA: In 15 games with Buffalo since his demotion from the Indians, shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera is batting .426 (26-for-61) with 11 runs scored, three doubles, a home run and five RBI. He has also hit safely in 11 of his past 13 games.

Double-A Akron

STATUS: After a sizzling two weeks in which they won 17 of 19 games, the Aeros began to cool off by losing three consecutive games in a five-game series to visiting Bowie. At 47-31, the Aeros hold a 21/2-game lead over Harrisburg in the Southern Division.

WHO'S HOT: Outfielder Trevor Crowe has raised his batting average from .231 to .309 (78 points) in a span of seven games. The hot streak for the Tribe's No. 1 pick (14th overall) in the 2005 draft has included six multihit games and has featured three four-hit efforts. In 36 games with the Aeros, Crowe is 46-for-149 with 34 runs scored, 12 doubles, a triple, two home runs, 20 RBI and seven stolen bases. He was also the player of the week in the league.

High-A Kinston

STATUS: The K-Tribe is 5-2 and in first place in the Carolina League Southern Division to start the second half.

WHO'S HOT: First baseman Beau Mills has hit safely in his past nine games, batting .342 (13-for-38) with eight runs scored, four doubles, two home runs and seven RBI over that stretch. In 73 games with the K-Tribe, Mills is hitting .268 (75-for-280) with 45 runs scored, 23 doubles, two triples, nine home runs and 47 RBI.

WEGLARZ WATCH: Left fielder Nick Weglarz, the Indians' sixth-best prospect according to Baseball America, is batting .265 (65-for-245) with 44 runs scored, 15 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 29 RBI. He also has a .397 on-base percentage and has hit safely in his past eight games.

LEAGUE HONORS: Right-handed pitcher Carlton Smith was named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Week for the period ending June 22. In two starts he went 1-0 with a 0.75 ERA. In 15 starts this season, he is 5-4 with a 3.87 ERA and 43 strikeouts.

THE FUTURE: Right-handed pitcher Hector Rondon was named to the All-Star Futures Game that will take place July 13 at Yankee Stadium. Rondon is 5-3 with a 3.45 ERA in 15 games with the K-Tribe this season. In June, he is 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA.

Low-A Lake County

STATUS: The Captains are off to a rough 2-5 start in the second half, in seventh place in the South Atlantic League Northern Division.

WHO'S HOT: Outfielder Roman Pena has hit safely in his past 14 games, batting .302 (16-for-53) with five runs scored, two doubles, a home run and three RBI in that stretch. In 73 games with the Captains, Pena ranks sixth in the league with a .312 (86-for-276) batting average that includes 49 runs scored, 20 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 49 RBI.

THE REAL DEAL: First baseman Dustin Realini is batting .285 (47-for-165) with 22 runs scored, seven doubles, four home runs and 32 RBI in 51 games with the Captains. His .427 on-base percentage ranks second in the league.

Short-season
Mahoning Valley

STATUS: The Scrappers are off to a 5-5 start and are tied for third place with Batavia in the New-York-Penn League Pinckney Division, just 11/2 games behind division-leader Jamestown.

WHO'S HOT: Catcher Douglas Pickens has hit safely in every game he has played so far this season, batting .421 (8-for-19) with five runs scored, a double, RBI and stolen base through six games.

CHASING CHISENHALL: Infielder Lonnie Chisenhall, the Indians' No. 1 pick (29th overall) earlier this month, is batting just .139 (5-for-36) with a double, triple, RBI and six runs scored in eight games.
