Whitney's homer not enough for Aeros

Curve 3, Aeros 1 — Matt Whitney hit a solo home run in the second inning and Trevor Crowe went 2-for-4 with a double, but it was not enough to power the Aeros past host Altoona.

Curve pitcher Dan Reichert, formerly in the Indians' organization, allowed one run on five hits through seven plus innings. Reichert struck out seven, a season high. Aeros starter Kevin Dixon (8-6) gave up three runs on eight hits and struck out three through seven innings to take the tough-luck loss.

Bronson Sardinha hit a double and Stephen Head, Nathan Panther and Damaso Espino each had a hit for the Aeros.

The Aeros are now 63-42 and continue their quest for the Southern Divison title with a 10-game homestand that starts tonight against the Binghamton Mets.
