The U17 Everest Soccer Club, made up of players from the Akron and Cleveland areas, posted a 1-1 tie Thursday night in its second round-robin game at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships in Little Rock, Ark.

Andromeda 91 of North Texas scored in the opening minute for a quick lead. Ty Smith of Everest responded in the 14th minute.

Each team was 1-0-1 and atop the pool standings heading into games Friday night. Everest was to play Diablo FC of California.

Andromeda beat Diablo 2-1 on Wednesday.

The championship game will be played at 8 a.m. Sunday and will pit the two top pool teams.
