Triple-A Buffalo
WHERE THEY STAND: The Bisons are 55-65 and remain in fifth place in the International League North Division, 181/2 games behind new division-leader Scranton-Wilkes Barre.
WHO'S HOT: First baseman Michael Aubrey is batting .351 (13-for-37) with three home runs, five runs scored and seven RBI in his past nine games. In 54 games overall, he's hitting .300 (66-for-220) with 14 doubles, six home runs and 27 RBI.
CROWE WATCH: Outfielder Trevor Crowe, the Indians' No. 1 pick (14th overall) in the 2005 draft, is batting .286 (16-for-56) with four home runs, eight walks, eight RBI and a .929 OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) in 13 games since his promotion to Buffalo.
DID YOU KNOW: In addition to all the team's recent player movement, the parent-club Indians also acquired infielder Andy Cannizaro for cash from the Tampa Bay Ray's Triple-A club Durham earlier in the week and sent him to Buffalo.
Double-A Akron
STATUS: The Aeros are 70-49 and remain in first place in the Southern Division. But they have lost two games off their lead against second-place Bowie and are 11/2 games ahead of the Baysox.
WHO'S HOT: Shortstop/second baseman Josh Rodriguez is batting .316 (12-for-38) with three RBI and four runs scored in his past nine games. . . . First baseman/designated hitter Matt Whitney is hitting .300 (9-for-30) in his past nine games with a home run, three RBI and five runs scored.
WHO'S NOT: Third baseman Wes Hodges is batting .139 (5-for-36) in his past nine games. . . . Outfielder Bronson Sardinha has also cooled off, hitting just .216 (8-for-37) in his past nine games.
DID YOU KNOW: Despite Hodges' and Sardinha's recent struggles, they still have combined to drive in 11 runs in that same span.
SIZZLING IN JULY: Left-handed pitcher Scott Lewis enjoyed a standout July, going 2-1 with a 1.00 ERA in six starts last month. In 36 innings, Lewis struck out 33, issued four walks and held opponents to a .209 batting average against him. . . . Catcher Wyatt Toregas hit .345 with 29 hits, 14 runs scored, seven doubles, nine home runs and 24 RBI last month.
High Class-A Kinston
STATUS: The K-Tribe is 26-20 in the second half in the Carolina League Southern Division, dropping to 61/2 games behind division-leader Myrtle Beach.
WHO'S HOT: Outfielder Cirilo Cumberbatch is batting .394 (13-for-33) with four runs scored and an RBI in his past nine games. . . . Third baseman Niuman Romero is hitting .378 (14-for-37) with three runs and 10 RBI in his past 10 games. . . . First baseman Beau Mills is batting .359 (14-for-39) with two home runs, eight runs scored and nine RBI in his past 10 games.
WHO'S NOT: Outfielder John Drennen is in a 3-for-30 slump in his past eight games. . . . Catcher Matt McBride is batting .206 (7-for-34) in his past eight games.
SANTANA WATCH: Catcher Carlos Santana, who was acquired July 26 from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Casey Blake trade, owns a minor-league leading 106 RBI. In 10 games with the K-Tribe, he is batting .419 (18-for-43) with two doubles, a triple, two home runs, six RBI and a 1.096 OPS.
Low Class-A Lake County
STATUS: After winning the first-half title in the South Atlantic League Northern Division, the Captains are just 20-26 in the second half. They are in fourth place, 11 games behind division-leader West Virginia.
WHO'S HOT: Shortstop Ron Rivas is hitting .417 (15-for-36) with three runs scored and four RBI in his past nine games. . . . Catcher Richard Martinez is batting .400 (10-for-25) with two home runs, four RBI and six runs scored also in his past nine games.
WHO'S NOT: Outfielders Adam White and Roman Pena are each batting below .200 in their past nine and 10 games, respectively. White is 5-for-29 (.172) and Pena is 7-for-36 (.194).
Short-season
Mahoning Valley
STATUS: The Scrappers are 22-27 and remain in fifth place in the New-York-Penn League Pinckney Division, nine games behind division-leader Jamestown.
WHO'S HOT: Shortstop Isaias Velasquez is batting .378 (14-for-37) with three RBI and nine runs scored in his past 10 games and has hit safely over his past 16. . . . Catcher Michael Valadez is hitting .375 (6-for-16) with an RBI and five runs scored in his past five games.
WHO'S NOT: Outfielder Corteze Armstrong is hitting .130 (3-for-23) in his past eight games. . . . Third baseman Jeremie Tice has also cooled off as of late, batting just .214 (6-for-28) in his past seven games.
WELCOME: Outfielder Tim Fedroff, the Indians' seventh-round selection from the June draft, is expected to join the team soon. The 21-year-old left-hander batted .404 with 12 home runs and 71 RBI as a sophomore at the University of North Carolina to help the Tar Heels advance to the College World Series.
CHISENHALL WATCH: Infielder Lonnie Chisenhall, the Indians' No. 1 pick (29th overall) in the June draft, is batting .280 (52-for-186) with 12 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 33 RBI in 43 games. He has been especially hot, hitting .390 (16-for-41) with three home runs, 10 runs scored and 17 RBI in his past nine games.
