Junior Erick Howard rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns to help North Canton Hoover top rival Jackson 26-7 on Friday night.
The win gives the Vikings (9-1, 7-0) the outright Federal League title.
Hoover scored 19 unanswered points to break a halftime tie with Howard scoring on runs of 38 and 11 yards and Brett Tulodzieski racing 45 yards for a touchdown. The Vikings repeated as league champions and won their eighth game in a row.
Wyatt Lloyd returned a fumble recovery 35 yards for a touchdown for Jackson (5-5, 3-4).
Louisville 27, Minerva 0 Dane Mathie rushed for two touchdowns and Neal Seaman passed for 135 yards and two touchdowns to give the host Leopards (10-0, 7-0 NBC) the win over the Lions (6-4, 3-4). The win left Louisville, the Beacon Journal's top-ranked team, as the only area high school to finish the regular season at 10-0.
Canton South 28, Carrollton 7 Junior Justin Keith rushed for three touchdowns and gained 184 yards on 23 carries to lead the host Wildcats (7-3, 5-2 NBC) over the Warriors (0-10, 0-7). South senior Matthew Trissel threw a 56-yard touchdown pass to junior Jerald Robinson.
Lake 48, Dresden Tri-Valley 26 Senior Tyler Crowl rushed for two touchdowns and gained 131 yards on 10 carries to propel the host Blue Streaks (5-5) past the Scotties (7-3) in a nonleague game. Lake junior Ryan Christiansen rushed for three touchdowns and tallied 128 yards on seven carries.
Copley 24, Wadsworth 12 Senior running back Kwame Harvey rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Indians (2-8, 2-5 Suburban) over the Grizzlies (5-5, 3-4). Quarterback Dom McClain had a 12-yard touchdown run and the Copley defense forced four turnovers. Wadsworth's Caleb Busson threw two touchdown passes.
Revere 21, Barberton 6 Junior John Battaglia rushed for two touchdowns and gained 182 yards on 42 carries to lead the Minutemen (6-4, 3-4 Suburban) over the Magics (3-7, 1-6). Revere junior Chris Gibbs returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown.
Tallmadge 31, Green 14 Tyler Fortner rushed for 284 yards and three touchdowns to lead the host Blue Devils (7-3, 5-2 Suburban) over the Bulldogs (4-3, 3-4). Nick Thompson had a 1-yard touchdown run for Tallmadge. Jesse Mason passed 20 yards to Adam Spray for a Green touchdown. Tyler Chaboudy returned a kickoff 80 yards for a Bulldogs touchdown.
Kenmore 34, Firestone 13 Dirshawn Mansfield rushed for 156 yards and four touchdowns to help the Cardinals (3-7, 1-5 City Series) to a win over the visiting Falcons (0-10, 0-7). Randall Kennedy threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Shaffer for Firestone.
Archbishop Hoban 24,Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin 14 Laymon Carter III rushed for 187 yards and a touchdown to help the host Knights (6-4) beat the Lions (5-5). Hoban's Rahsheed Moore returned a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown and quarterback Josh Masters had a 60-yard touchdown run.
Walsh Jesuit 21, Warren Harding 9 Senior Armand Dehaney returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown and also rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown to help the Warriors (7-2) defeat the host Raiders (5-5). Walsh senior Kyle Snyder rushed for a touchdown and gained 83 yards on 20 carries. Junior Cameron Ontko gained 68 yards on 15 carries.
Youngstown Ursuline 34, St. Vincent-St. Mary 7 Ursuline (10-0) outscored St. V-M in the second half 20-0 to turn a close game into a blowout. The hosts finished their first undefeated season since 1956 (9-0) and the school's first 10-win regular season. Harvey Tuck IV rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown for St. Vincent-St. Mary (7-3).
Ravenna 25, Springfield 12 Blayre Davis rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Ravens (7-3, 5-2 PTC Metro) over the Spartans (0-10, 0-7). Scott Cole had a 2-yard touchdown run for Springfield.
Kent Roosevelt 19, Norton 13 (OT) Tyler Lohr had a 20-yard touchdown run in overtime to give the Rough Riders (8-2, 7-0) the win over the Panthers (2-8, 2-5) and the PTC Metro title. Denerio Bryant had an 85-yard kickoff return and Evan Shimensky had a 1-yard touchdown run for Roosevelt. Steve Smith rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns for Norton.
Field 45, Coventry 7 Jay Lugo rushed for three touchdowns to give the Falcons (8-2, 6-1 PTC Metro) the win over the host Comets (3-7, 3-4). Field defensive end Mike Ries had a safety and recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown.
Woodridge 38, Waterloo 0 Junior Anthony Westren eclipsed 2,000 yards passing for the season and junior Anthony Kelly rushed for a touchdown and 213 yards on 12 carries to lead the host Bulldogs (5-5, 3-4 PTC County) past the Vikings (1-9, 1-6). Westren completed 5-of-9 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Josh Chadima and junior Brandyn Peters each had a touchdown reception, and senior Kaven Wright rushed for two touchdowns.
Crestwood 41, Southeast 22 Eric Head and Talon Stephens each rushed for two touchdowns to lead the host Red Devils (3-7, 3-4 PTC Metro) over the Pirates (2-8, 2-5).
East Canton 20, Mogadore 14 Ben Eyler rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown to lift the Hornets (7-3, 6-1 PTC County) over the Wildcats (9-1, 6-1) for a share of the league title and a potential playoff berth. Mogadore sophomore Jake McAvinew rushed for two touchdowns and Kodey Chance ran for 143 yards.
Aurora 47, Wickliffe 19 Senior Steven Yung rushed for three touchdowns and gained 157 yards on 21 carries to lead the host Greenmen (8-2, 7-0 Chagrin Valley) over the Blue Devils (2-8, 2-5). Yung also caught a touchdown pass for 77 yards. Aurora senior Brendan Gallagher completed all five of his pass attempts for 162 yards and three touchdowns. Greenmen senior receiver Dee Brizzolara had two touchdown receptions.
Brunswick 31, Medina 7 Senior Brit Musal rushed for two touchdowns and gained 200 yards on 22 carries to lead the Blue Devils (9-1, 4-1 NOC Valley) over the Bees (5-5, 2-3). Brunswick's Kyle Monaco had an interception that set up a rushing touchdown by Ricky Manco, and Mike Price scored a Blue Devils touchdown on a fumble return.
Dalton 34, Chippewa 19 Greg Blevins rushed for four touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (6-4, 5-2 Wayne County) over the host Chipps (4-6, 2-5) and into a possible playoff spot.
Orrville 31, Wooster 0 Junior Joe Besancon passed for 214 yards and hit juniors Chase Hoobler and Sam Miller for touchdowns to lead the Red Riders (7-3, 5-2 Ohio Cardinal) over the host Generals (6-4, 4-3). Besancon also rushed for a touchdown and gained 94 yards on 13 carries. Senior Josh Graber rushed for two touchdowns.
