Senior Dane Mathie rushed for four touchdowns and gained 200 yards on 22 carries to lead host Louisville over Columbus Independence 60-24 in a Division II, Region 7 playoff game Friday night.
The Leopards (11-0) led 53-18 at halftime.
Louisville senior Neal Seaman completed 16-of-18 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for two touchdowns.
Leopards senior Jon Minster had two touchdown receptions and senior Bob Swigert had one touchdown reception. Senior Brandon Mathie had seven receptions for 170 yards.
Louisville, 11-11 in 11 seasons of playoff appearances, were state runners-up in Division II last season.
Junior Devin Clodfelter rushed for a touchdown and gained 113 yards on 28 carries for Independence (7-4).
Tallmadge 30, Parma Padua Franciscan 17 — Senior Tyler Fortner rushed for three touchdowns to help the visiting Blue Devils (8-3) defeat the Bruins (8-3) in a Region 5 game.
Tallmadge senior Cory Armbruster caught a touchdown pass from senior Paul Pakan.
The Blue Devils led 21-17 at halftime and scored nine points in the fourth quarter to seal the outcome.
Tallmadge will host Lake County Madison next Friday.
Archbishop Hoban 21, Warren Howland 10 — Senior Laymon Carter III rushed for two touchdowns and gained 139 yards on 29 carries to lead the visiting Knights (7-4) over the Tigers (7-4) in Region 5.
Hoban, which is 11-8 in nine playoff appearances and had not been in the postseason since 2005, led 14-3 at halftime following rushing touchdowns from senior Josh Masters and Carter.
Carter leads Hoban with 1,239 yards this season.
Knights junior Zach Christensen converted all three extra points.
Hoban coach Ralph Orsini said seniors Rahsheed Moore, Brian Slack, Andrew Volcheck, Zach Buzzelli-Andes, Justin Gordon, Ethan Scott, Dominic Williams and freshman Greg McMullen led the defense.
Carter and Masters rushed behind a veteran offensive line that consisted of seniors Matt Banas, Anthony Frisone, Charlie Renner III, Tracy Denholm, Chris Sarkas and Slack and juniors Jonathan Duckworth and David Sutter.
The Knights will play at Mayfield next Friday in a second-round game.
Mayfield 27, Kent Roosevelt 7 — Denerio Bryant caught a 60-yard pass from quarterback Evan Shimensky in the first quarter to give Kent Roosevelt (8-3) a lead, but things went downhill from there. Tim Wetzel scored two touchdowns, and Gianni Ferrito caught a touchdown pass for the Wildcats (10-1).
Lexington 38, Cloverleaf 10 — The first playoff appearance for the Colts (8-3) lasted one week, as the host Minutemen (11-0) won this Region 6 game.
The Colts trailed only 14-10 at halftime, but the Minutemen rallied to score 24 unanswered points in the second half.
Lexington received rushing touchdowns from Tyler Dickson, Antonio Pickens, Michael Gallick and Hooch Mondon. Dickson also caught a touchdown pass from Courtney Avery.
Cloverleaf's Kyle Juszczyk rushed for a 29-yard touchdown.
Division IV
Youngstown Cardinal Mooney 14, Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy 6 — CVCA senior Andy Hoffman caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from senior Jacob Hay in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as host Mooney (9-2) won this Region 13 game.
This is the third time in four years Mooney has defeated CVCA (9-2) in a first-round game, and the Royals drop to 0-5 in playoff games.
CVCA senior John Pettigrew rushed for 73 yards on 21 carries. He finished the season with 2,145 yards and 22 rushing touchdowns.
Juniors Alex Zordich and Karrington Griffin (16 carries, 124 yards) each rushed for a touchdown for Mooney, a six-time state champion with a 44-15 playoff record in 22 years.
Tuslaw 28, Leavittsburg LaBrae 0 — Senior Shelby Combs rushed for two touchdowns to lead the host Mustangs (10-1) over the Vikings (9-2) in Region 13. Senior Graydon Feichter had a touchdown reception from Combs, and sophomore Mason Miller rushed for a touchdown.
Division VI
Norwalk St. Paul 56, East Canton 7 — Matt Wilde and Justin Wilde each scored two touchdowns to lead the host Flyers (11-0) past the Hornets (7-4) in a Region 21 game.
Matt Wilde's touchdowns came on the ground; Justin Wilde scored by returning an interception and a fumble.
Mikhail Kimbel rushed for a touchdown for East Canton, which fell to 0-4 in four playoff appearances.

High school athletic directors or league commissioners responsible for submitting fall sports all-star teams are asked to send copies to the Beacon Journal.
Non-football all-star teams will be published in the newspaper's Nov. 20 edition. Football all-stars will be listed Nov. 27.
