NEW ORLEANS: Former Cavaliers guard Devin Brown awaited the matchup with his former teammates when they arrived in New Orleans on Saturday.
At one point, Brown, now with the Hornets, thought about returning to the Cavaliers. But a falling-out with the organization made that difficult.
''You know, I think there was some stuff that was said about me that was unfair or untrue, so I had to go a different direction,'' he said.
Rumors surfaced that Brown missed practice before a playoff game last spring.
Ultimately, however, he left town after a season when he averaged 7.5 points per game and 3.3 rebounds off the bench.
''There was a lot of speculation about what happened. There was a way that everything was brought out about it,'' he said. ''It wasn't the right time for it, but that wasn't indicative of the whole season. It wasn't the right thing to do or say. There was no need to even go public with it.''
Brown said it's difficult to not have hard feelings when it comes to the Cavaliers.
''I'm a basketball player. I played hard all year,'' he said. ''Whatever happened with the situation in the playoffs happened, and to compound the problem with something like that, how am I supposed to take that as a player? It was hard for me to deal with over the summer. It gave me extra motivation, and I'm ready to go.''
Brown said it will be awkward to face off against his former teammates, but that feeling won't last long. ''We got to get going and win this basketball game.''
James on Hornets
LeBron James could appreciate the talent on the Hornets' roster.
''They're a good team. When you have a player like Chris Paul, you always have a chance to win. He's a rare talent and they have the pieces around him,'' James said. ''[James] Posey is one of the best one-on-one defenders we have in this league right now and he has two rings.''
Much was also made in a New Orleans newspaper about how well James and Paul get along.

I have been curious why Brown wasn't resigned. I liked the guy's hustle and hard nosed play. I don't recall any negative comments coming out of the Cavs organization about him but perhaps I missed them.
The rumor is he missed a practice during the playoffs, got in a fight with Mike Brown and, consequently, didn't play one minute during the playoffs, then was let go.
Fire Lebron
Devin Brown needs to watch his behavior. He very lucky to have a job as a professional basketball player. I believe there is more to Devin being let go, and he know this. Go CAVS!!!!
Stupid comment of the week goes to Dawn.
I agree.
Oh Glenda...unless you have something substantiated, then shut the hell up!
