Teammate Williams and James both say topic not distraction

CLEVELAND: The brouhaha over where LeBron James will be driving to the basket in 2010 is dying a slow death apparently.
Instead of having to address the issue with the New York media on the first question, he didn't face it until the second — a snail's pace when compared with his recent appearances at the Izod Center in New Jersey and Madison Square Garden, respectively.
Given recent comments made by TNT's Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley, who both intimated that James' free-agency issues had become a distraction, it's of little surprise that was the topic du jour in the Cavs' pre-game locker room. James dismissed the notion of that being the case.
''For us? No. It's a distraction for the Knicks. It's not a distraction for us; we're good,'' he said.
''Players on that team don't want to hear about LeBron James or Chris Bosh coming to their team at this point. It's a year-and-a-half away. They've got better things to do.''
Teammate and Cavs point guard Mo Williams agreed.
''It hasn't come up in our locker room. We're not concerned. Believe it or not, that's a long time from now,'' Williams said.
'' A lot of things can happen between those two years. We have a lot of things to do and a lot of goals for us in those two years.''
Home cookin'
This incarnation of the Cavaliers had the opportunity to do something that none of their predecessors have.
With a win, they could set a record for the best home start in franchise history at 10-0 and remain one of two — the Portland Trail Blazers being the other — undefeated home teams in the NBA.
Coach Mike Brown said that the mark wasn't a primary concern for him.
''Obviously I want to because it's going to help our record and I like to win,'' he said. ''But if we win and our weak side [defense] is terrible, we're going to watch tape on our weak side.
''It's great to get records. It's great to win, but I don't look at stuff like that. I'm like this is our next one, let's got get it.''
