Golden Flashes pluck Seahawks

Kent State 69, UNC Wilmington 54 — Kent senior Anna Kowalska scored a game- high 22 points to lead the Golden Flashes (5-1) over the Seahawks (4-2) at Trask Coliseum in Wilmington, N.C.

Kowalska led a potent Kent attack that also featured 12 points by Rachel Bennett and 11 points by Jena Stutzman. Sophomore Chenel Harris grabbed 10 rebounds and Stephanie Gibson led assists with seven.

KSU was never challenged in the contest, as the Flashes led 37-25 at halftime. The Seahawks cut the lead to 58-52 with 4:31 remaining, but a final 11-2 run by Kent put the game away.

Sasha Taylor led UNCW with 19 points. It was only the second meeting between the teams. The record is now even at 1-1.

Kent State will face Cleveland State at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wolstein Center.
