Bruins put Bergeron on IR with concussion

Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron, who hasn't played since suffering a concussion on Dec. 20, was placed on injured reserve Wednesday and will miss at least another week.

Bergeron, who missed most of last season with a concussion, spent a night in the hospital after a collision with Carolina's Dennis Seidenberg. He remained on the ice for several minutes before being helped to the locker room.

Bergeron has four goals and 14 assists in 31 games this season.

The Bruins, who have won nine in a row, sent forward Martin St. Pierre to their AHL affiliate in Providence, R.I. St. Pierre had a goal and an assist in five games.

CANUCKS GET HELP — The Canucks Vancouver, still missing top goaltender Roberto Luongo, added some netminder insurance by acquiring Jason Labarbera from the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night for a seventh-round pick in the 2009 draft.

Labarbera will join Curtis Sanford and rookie Cory Schneider, who have been sharing goaltending duties since Luongo was placed on the injured list Nov. 23 because of a groin injury. Luongo resumed skating on his own Tuesday, but isn't expected to be ready for game action for at least three weeks.
