Browns could hold off until Ravens are done

In 2005, the Browns announced the hiring of coach Romeo Crennel just minutes after the Super Bowl ended.
That scenario could be repeated this year, this time with the general manager.
Browns owner Randy Lerner interviewed Baltimore Ravens Director of Pro Personnel George Kokinis on Sunday, and their meeting reportedly went well. But the possibility of hiring Kokinis to partner with coach Eric Mangini will have to wait.
The Ravens advanced to the AFC Championship Game on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, making Kokinis unavailable to join the Browns until their playoff run ends. That could be after the Super Bowl on Feb. 1.
The delay will give Lerner time to consider other candidates. He vowed Friday to be ''thorough and thoughtful'' in his search and said he believed there was less urgency in finding a general manager than hiring a coach.
Kokinis served as an intern in the Browns' operations department in 1991, then moved into scouting. He has worked with Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome for 18 years. Kokinis met Mangini in 1994, when Mangini served as a Browns ball boy and public relations intern, and they were roommates for a time.
One of the main focuses of Mangini's week will be filling his coaching staff. He's expected to name New York Jets quarterbacks coach Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator, and Oakland Raiders defensive coordinator Rob Ryan should be picked for that same post. According to various reports, Ryan is already at work since his contract with the Raiders is expiring.

If the Browns want magic in their system, get Ozzie Newsome as their GM and they will be in the playoffs for some time to come.
After all he was a Cleveland Brown!
hey and maybe Pual Brown will rise from the dead and coach own and be gm. lol
So how much do you think Kokinis is paying Mangini in a kickback?
Pioli to the Chiefs.Lerner does it again, gets the cart in front of the horse.
I really dont think it is going to matter who the GM is going to be. We will not win more than 6 games for the next couple of years, and anyone that thinks any different needs to re-evaluate things. New Coaches, New GM, getting rid of core players and bringing on new players who dont know the system, playing in a division with the Steelers and the Ravens.....We have a long road ahead of us....I still LOVE the Browns though.
