1The Zips must control the tempo. The Zags are an offensive machine, ranking sixth in the country in shooting (48.8 percent) and 20th in scoring (76.3 points per game). UA must use its defense to keep the score in the 60s. A game in the 70s and 80s will be to Gonzaga's advantage.

2The Zips must make their open shots. Sounds easy? It's hasn't been all season for the Zips, who had some games in which good shots turned into missed shots. The Zips made them in the Mid-American Conference Tournament, and that has to continue tonight.

3The Zips must use their quickness and court savvy to counter the Zags' height. UA's small guards will be going against 6-foot-5 Matt Bouldin and 6-2 Jeremy Pargo. Gonzaga coach Mark Few loves to exploit mismatches and often posts up his guards to take advantage of that. The 6-11 duo of Josh Heytvelt and Austin Daye are not physical but can shoot from anywhere and will get good looks because of their size alone.

4The Zips must pressure and frustrate Pargo. In Gonzaga's losses, Pargo has had problems with turnovers. He is only averaging 2.5 turnovers per game, not terrible for a point guard, but some have come at crucial times. He also has a tendency to be too cautious when pressured, which could help to slow the Gonzaga offense.

5 The Zips must hope for luck in regard to the crowd noise. The Gonzaga faithful are gobbling up tickets for the short trip to Portland and will be loud. But NCAA Tournament fans love the underdog, so if the Zips are competitive early, fans from the six other schools might get behind them.
