Stevi Large, a recent graduate of the University of Akron, placed seventh in the hammer throw in the U.S. National Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Large had a throw of 210 feet, 3 inches, in a meet that features the best American track and field athletes, regardless of age or experience.
She had a throw of 223-4 on June 12 to win the NCAA title in Fayetteville, Ark.
The winner of the hammer throw in Eugene was Jessica Crosby (236-4).
UA junior Carrie Kayes tied for 12th in the pole vault in the same meet.
Kayes, a Green High School graduate, cleared 13-91/4. She vaulted 14-11/4 in the NCAA finals to place sixth and earn All-American honors.
Jennifer Stuczynski won the event in Eugene with a vault of 15-3.
