Tiger Woods wins Begay skins game

Tiger Woods has won the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge, edging defending champion Camilo Villegas at Turning Stone Resort's Atunyote Golf Club in Verona, N.Y. After Villegas won $180,000 with a birdie at the 14th hole Monday in the skins game format, Woods won the next three holes to finish with $230,000 to Villegas' $200,000. Begay won the final hole to pocket $70,000, while Mike Weir was shut out for the second year. The event, a collaboration between the Oneida Indian Nation of New York and San Manuel Band of Serrano Mission Indians of California, is an effort to aid the health of Native American youth and their communities.

Boxing: Mayweather's car searched

• Las Vegas police searched boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s Rolls-Royce at his home in the investigation of a shooting outside a Las Vegas skating rink. No one was hurt, but another car was hit with bullets. Witnesses described the Rolls-Royce and said it was involved in the shooting. Police said it was not clear if Mayweather was present.

Mayweather's bout with Juan Manuel Marquez will be showcased live Sept. 19 in 170 theaters nationwide. The fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas will also air on HBO pay-per-view. Theater tickets are expected to cost about $15.

College: Former player guilty of murder

• Former University of Nebraska running back Thunder Collins, 29, is guilty of first-degree murder in the 2008 shooting of a man in Omaha, Neb. Collins, who played from 2000-02, was convicted of killing Timothy Thomas, 38, in a botched drug deal. On his way out of the court, Collins screamed at the jury: ''Are you happy? You know I didn't kill anyone!'' Sentencing is set for Nov. 12.

• South Carolina football coach Steve Spurrier suspended defensive end Clifton Geathers after he was arrested in a fight outside a nightclub. Geathers was charged with public drunkenness, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Geathers, a junior from Georgetown, is the brother of Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Robert Geathers Jr.

• More than two dozen Tulane football players are back at practice after suffering mild flu symptoms last week. School spokesman Roger Dunaway said a team physician cleared 27 players to return to action. The infected players were told to remain in their dorm rooms or apartments.

Tennis: Davis Cup doping alleged

• Czech tennis player Ivo Minar tested positive for a banned substance after a Davis Cup match in Prague. Czech Tennis Association President Ivo Kaderka said that the sample was taken after a win over Argentina July 10-12. Minar, 25, who is ranked 66th, denied deliberate doping.

Andre Agassi's autobiography is heading to bookstores in November. In the book, the eight-time Grand Slam singles champion discusses his start in tennis as a child, his relationship with his father and his failed marriage to Brooke Shields.

Amelie Mauresmo overcame sloppy serving to beat Ai Sugiyama of Japan 6-4, 6-1 in the first round of the Pilot Pen tournament in New Haven, Conn., the final tuneup before the U.S. Open. Former Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis lost his first-round match to qualifier Frederico Gil of Portugal in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.

Other: Touring hockey team named

• U.S. Olympic women's hockey coach Mark Johnson named six former Olympians for a 23-player touring team preparing for Vancouver. Three-time Olympians Angela Ruggiero and Jenny Potter were selected, as were Natalie Darwitz and Julie Chu, who played in the 2002 and 2006 Games. Caitlin Cahow and Molly Engstrom are Turin veterans. Chanda Gunn, the goalie in Turin, was left off, as were 2006 teammates Helen Resor and Sarah Parsons.

• Italian cyclist Vincenzo Nibali fractured his collarbone in a crash during the fifth stage of the Eneco tour of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
