DETROIT: Matthew Stafford threw his fifth touchdown pass from 1 yard to Brandon Pettigrew, and Jason Hanson's extra point with no time on the clock gave the Detroit Lions a stunning 38-37 win over the Cleveland Browns today.
Detroit was given the untimed play because safety Hank Poteat was called for pass interference in the end zone when Stafford heaved a desperation attempt.
The Lions (2-8) started the winning drive with 1:46 remaining and no timeouts. Stafford, the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, did just enough to rally them for the win — helped hugely by the call that went against the Browns (1-9).
Brady Quinn threw four TDs, surpassing his career total, and connected with Michael Gaines with 5:44 left to put the Browns ahead after helping them score a franchise-record 24 points in the first quarter.

ugh, why did they call timeout? culpepper didn't look ready at all.
They called timeout because bad teams always find a way to lose.
The Browns are very good at being bad. The timeout call was perfecto!
WE SUX. . . .
Did the Browns play today? For some reason I keep missing the games.....
What a spectacular finish! Expect more of the same for the rest of the Browns season. Lerner will change nothing. Mangini will be an albatros around our necks for the rest of the year.
How 'bout dem Lions!
FIRE MANGINI NOW!!
I bet against the Browns today for the first time ever and won! Thanks Browns!
How in the heck can a team, even the Browns, give the Lions 38 points!I thought Ryan said he liked what he saw from his defense vs. the Ravens;Ha! What a joke. The game should never have come down to that last play anyway.
A better headline would read.....
"Browns Beaten in Battle of the Bads"
How about "Browns Move To Canton...Change Name to Hoovers because of how badly they SUCK!"
I guess the best we can hope for now is when they have the draft pick, the Browns first round choice isn't Coors Lite.
The city should sue Randy Lerner for perpetrating a fraud on the fans. There's no way in ... well, you know where ... this is an NFL team.
Yep, the silver lining.... the 2010 draft class is supposed to be a good one. No deciding between Alex Smith or Braylon Edwards.
...oh, and Quinn played well. I realize that was against the Lions, but there's no denying that the offense was more aggressive. Where has that been all year?
I wonder how much those Browns-Raiders tix for 12/27 are fetching these days on the resale market?
Two words:
Tim Tebow.
Firestone,
I agree..... if the question is "Which player should the Browns specifically NOT draft?"
