The University of Akron men's basketball team finished the four-game Glenn Wilkes Classic with a 69-52 win over Howard today at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Four players scored in double figures to help the Zips end the tournament with a .500 record (2-2).
Sophomore Nikola Cvetinovic finished with a team-high 13 points and six rebounds to pace the offense.
Senior Chris McKnight also had 13 points. Sophomores Brett McClanahan and Anthony ''Humpty'' Hitchens each finished with 10 points.
Hitchens had a game-high four assists and was named to the all-tournament team.
Freshman center Zeke Marshall made his first collegiate start for the Zips. He finished with four points, two blocked shots and two rebounds in 14 minutes.
Defensively, the Zips limited Howard (0-5) to 35.4 percent shooting (17-of-48) from the field and 25 percent (3-of-12) from behind the 3-point line.
Akron led by as many 29 points.
The Zips expanded a 33-21 halftime lead to 50-25 within the first five minutes of the second half.
Akron shot 43.9 percent (25-of-57) from the field, 34.8 percent (8-of-23) from 3-point range and 68.8 percent (11-of-16) from the foul line.
The Zips return home to Rhodes Arena for their next two games against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, at 7 p.m. Friday and Niagara at 2 p.m. Sunday.

I think they'll peak later in the year. They sound as if they're still getting the kinks out from the offseason.
Hopefully they'll build on a much better last two games. They still have a long way to go though.
Plus, what the heck is going on with the free throw shooting? That aspect will cost them in the long run unless it shows marked improvement.
