Rob Bironas kicked a 53-yard field goal with less than a minute remaining and the Tennessee Titans beat the Houston Texans 20-17 for their fourth straight victory after an 0-6 start.
The Texans (5-5) had a chance to tie it, but Kris Brown's 49-yard attempt with 1 second remaining was wide left. It was his second miss of the game and the second straight game he's missed a chance to send the Texans to overtime.
The Titans (4-6) haven't lost since Vince Young took over at quarterback. He is 2-0 as a starter in his hometown of Houston after running for the winning touchdown in overtime in his last start as a rookie in 2006.
Bironas kicked a 50-yard field goal with 2:49 left in the third to give the Titans a 17-14 lead. On Houston's next series, Matt Schaub split double coverage on a 49-yard pass to Andre Johnson to the Titans' 8. Brown tied it with a 26-yard field goal on the last play of the third quarter.
Spielman calling hours
Those who knew her personally or were simply touched by her story had an opportunity to pay respects to Stefanie Spielman, the wife of NFL and Ohio State star Chris Spielman, both Massillon natives.
Public calling hours were held in Columbus on Monday for Stefanie Spielman, who was 42 when she died Thursday after a lengthy and public battle with breast cancer.
A line formed at Longaberger Alumni House on the Ohio State University's campus as mourners waited to sign a book with condolences.
Chris Spielman, a former linebacker for the Buckeyes, shook hands and gave hugs. Photos of his wife were displayed throughout the house, and television screens featured her speaking at various events.
''You couldn't have asked for a braver person,'' said Edna Jasper, 61, of Columbus.
A memorial service is scheduled for late this morning at Trinity United Methodist Church outside the city. The Buckeyes paid their tribute during Saturday's game at Michigan. Ohio State players wore a special sticker on their helmets with Stefanie Spielman's initials and a pink Buckeye leaf.
Favre's friends
Brett Favre has been fueling Minnesota's passing game with remarkable efficiency, a rhythm reflected by the 40-year-old's career-high completion percentage of 88 posted over the weekend.
The Vikings (9-1) wouldn't be thriving without the success Favre's new pass-catching friends are having.
Sidney Rice has become his favorite receiver, and rookie Percy Harvin and tight end Visanthe Shiancoe also are consistently finding openings with sharp, smart routes.
They're making their share of tough catches, part of the reason why Favre has just three interceptions on his record next to 21 touchdown passes.
