Aeros 6, Baysox 3 — Nicholas Weglarz batted in three runs and Chuck Lofgren (1-0) pitched six effective innings to lead Akron past host Bowie today.
Weglarz drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the third inning and hit a two-run home run in the fifth. Beau Mills, John Drennen and Carlos Rivero each had a single and double for the Aeros, and Mills scored two runs. Carlos Santana also had an RBI.
Lofgren, a left-hander, pitched six innings and allowed one earned run and two hits. He struck out three and walked one. Aeros closer Vinnie Pestano gained his fifth save after Neil Wagner and Randy Newsom pitched in relief.
Akron (8-2) remains in first place in the Southern Division of the Eastern League.
