Hughes' grand slam
propels Rock Cats' win

Rock Cats 4, Aeros 1 — Luke Hughes hit a grand slam to left field in the bottom of the first to propel host New Britain to a victory Saturday night.

Hughes' home run came off of Akron starting pitcher Connor Graham.

The homer also scored Brandon Roberts, Rene Tosoni and Brian Dinkelman.

Graham pitched five innings for the Aeros, who have lost three games in a row. Graham struck out five and allowed four earned runs and four hits.

Akron's Lonnie Chisenhall hit a sacrifice fly in the eighth that scored Carlos Rivero.

Hughes and Roberts each had two hits for New Britain.

Rock Cats pitchers Matt Fox, Frank Mata, Spencer Steedley and Alex Burnett limited the Aeros to five hits.
