Aeros 10, SeaWolves 9
There was no shortage of offense in Erie on Monday night, as the two teams combined for 23 hits.
The Aeros (60-67) got things started with two in the first when Cedric Hunter belted his 11th home run of the season to right field, scoring newcomer Tyler Naquin.
Aeros starter Will Roberts quickly gave the lead back, surrendering a three-spot in the first inning en route to what would be a rough night for the left-hander.
Roberts allowed six earned runs on eight hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out two SeaWolves (67-60) batters.
The teams traded runs back and forth until the Aeros broke a 9-9 tie in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Giovanny Urshela, scoring Carlos Moncrief.
Trey Haley worked a perfect ninth inning, striking out two to earn his seventh save.
Austin Adams recorded the win, throwing two perfect innings of relief and striking out one.
Naquin, the Cleveland Indians’ first-round pick in the 2012 MLB draft, batted second and led the Aeros at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double, RBI, two runs and a strikeout.
He was also caught stealing.
Hunter drove in three runs, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a sacrifice fly.
