Aeros 3, Curve 1
Three runs scored on a Jesus Aguilar run single in the top of the eighth inning, and the Aeros bullpen allowed four hits through five innings to shut down the Curve in a 3-1 Eastern League win in Altoona, Pa.
Aguilar singled to score Adam Abraham, Chris Wallace and Tyler Naquin to give the Aeros (66-72) a two-run lead after the Curve (62-77) scored a run in the second inning on a throwing error by Aeros catcher Jake Lowery.
Aeros starter Francisco Jimenez gave up one run on three hits and struck out two through four innings, but it was the Aeros’ bullpen that kept them in the game. Shawn Armstrong, Bryce Stowell and Jose Flores did not allow a run through five innings to hold off the Curve. Stowell won his fourth game of the year and Flores earned his 15th save of the season.
Carlos Moncrief had two hits and Abraham, Wallace, Naquin and Tyler Holt each had singles for the Aeros.
The Aeros continue their four-game series with the Curve at 6 p.m. today.
