Aeros 7, Mets 3: Aeros win with big first inning, strong effort by bullpen

Ronny Rodriguez had three hits and an RBI and Cedric Hunter had two hits and two RBI, and the Aeros used a stellar outing by the bullpen to defeat the Binghamton Mets 7-3 in an Eastern League game Thursday night at Canal Park.

The Aeros (62-68) scored four runs in the first inning, highlighted by RBI singles by Hunter, Carlos Moncrief, Tyler Holt and an RBI double by Rodriguez.

The Aeros added a run in the second inning and scored two more runs in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Giovanny Urshela and a sacrifice fly by Tyler Naquin.

Aeros starting pitcher Toru Murata gave up two runs on four hits through 5⅓ innings for his sixth win of the season.

The Aeros’ bullpen didn’t allow a hit through 3⅔ innings and allowed an unearned run in the seventh inning.

Urshela, Holt and Jose Ramirez each had two hits and Matt Lawson and Alex Monsalve each had a single for the Aeros.

The Aeros host the Mets at 7:05 tonight at Canal Park.
