Aeros 6, Sea Dogs 2
The Aeros hit back-to-back homers in the top of the third inning to win their second game in as many days in Portland, Maine, Saturday.
With two outs, Ronny Rodriguez singled and Cedric Hunter walked, before first baseman Jesus Aguilar hit a three-run homer to right, his eighth of the season. Center fielder Carlos Moncreif followed Aguilar with a solo homer to right to give the Aeros (34-33) a 4-0 lead. It was Moncreif’s ninth for Akron this year.
The Aeros added two runs in the ninth inning on sacrifice flies by Jose Ramirez and Rodriguez.
Jordan Cooper (3-2) threw 5⅓ scoreless innings, giving up three hits and three walks, and striking out seven.
The Sea Dogs (34-32) got two runs in their final at-bat off Aeros reliever Rob Bryson. Travis Shaw hit a one-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth for Portland’s only runs.
