The Aeros got two runners on with nobody out in the top of the ninth inning but were unable to score, falling 5-3 to the Trenton Thunder Monday.
Akron (3-8), which left 12 runners on base and hit 2-for-14 with runners in scoring positions, struck out eight times.
The Aeros took the lead in the top of the second when Tyler Holt doubled home Matt Lawson and Delvi Cid. Trenton (8-3) tied the game in the bottom of the second when Neil Medhill hit a two-run home run. The Thunder took the lead in the third but the Aeros wasted no time in tying the game again.
Jeremy Lucas hit an RBI single after both Ronny Rodriguez and Lawson had reached base safely. The Aeros were unable to capitalize on their scoring chance, though.
Trenton scored in the bottom of the fourth and again in the seventh inning to take the final advantage.
Both Chun-Hsiu Chen and Quincy Latimore had two hits for the Aeros.
