SeaWolves 9, Aeros 5
Alex Monsalve hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the score, but the host Aeros gave up four runs in the top of the 11th inning in a loss to the SeaWolves in the Aeros’ final home game of the year Thursday.
The Aeros (65-72) scored two runs in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Jesus Aguilar and on an RBI double by Matt Lawson and added two runs in the second inning on a fielding error and on an RBI single by Aguilar to take a 4-1 lead.
The SeaWolves (73-64) scored two runs in the third inning, a run in the seventh and a run in the eighth to take a 5-4 lead before Monsalve’s ninth-inning homer tied the score.
Aeros reliever Trey Haley gave up four runs in the top of the 11th and took the loss. Starting pitcher Will Roberts gave up four runs on nine hits and struck out three in 6⅔ innings. Melvin Mercedes won his second game of the year for the SeaWolves.
Monsalve, Aguilar, Tyler Naquin and Giovanny Urshela each had two hits and Jose Ramirez singled for the Aeros.
The Aeros travel to Altoona, Pa., for their final four games of the season beginning tonight at 7:05.
