Host Harrisburg (41-35) jumped all over Akron pitching and the Aeros were unable to capitalize on their base runners as they fell to 36-39.
Aeros starting pitcher Brett Brach fell to 4-4 after giving up four earned runs on five hits and two walks in six innings of work.
Reliever Kyle Landis then gave up three more runs in two-thirds of an inning to widen the deficit.
Former Aeros player Jerad Head hit his ninth home run off Brach in the first inning and Stephen Souza Jr. hit his ninth off Landis in the seventh inning, a three-run shot.
Leadoff hitter Jose Ramirez led Akron with a single and a double.
Quincy Latimore added two singles for Akron.
Both teams tallied nine hits, but the Aeros were only able to manage one run as they went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and managed only one extra base hit.
Taylor Jordan improved to 7-0 for Harrisburg, throwing five one-run innings with a walk and a strikeout.
