A two-run home run by Cedric Hunter put Akron ahead in the top of the first, but it wasn’t enough as they scored no more runs and fell 3-2 to host Bowie on Wednesday.
Francisco Lindor led off the game with a single before being driven in by Hunter.
Akron starter Toru Murata held Bowie (53-50) scoreless until the sixth, giving up a two-run homer to Caleb Joseph.
Murata struck out five and walked two in six innings.
Reliever Shawn Armstrong (0-1) earned the loss the following inning when he gave up an RBI single to Trayvon Robinson.
Designated hitter Chris Wallace was the only Aeros (51-53) batter to reach base twice, with a single and a double.
Hunter’s home run was his eighth of the season.
Reliever Clay Schrader (5-2) earned the win for Bowie. Oliver Drake pitched two innings to earn his fifth save.
