Baysox 9, Aeros 5
Akron scored five runs in the first three innings but were unable to capitalize on the early offense and fell 9-5 in the series finale Sunday afternoon. The loss dropped the Aeros to 3-7 on the season.
Bowie (6-5) scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take the lead thanks in part to a leadoff home run by Caleb Joseph.
Right-fielder Carlos Moncrief led the way for Akron as he had three singles, scored twice, and drove in a run.
Chun Chen, Quincy Latimore, Giovanny Urshela, and Ronny Rodriguez each had two hits on the day. Chen also homered, his first of the season.
Toru Murata started for Akron and went 4 ⅔ innings allowing seven runs (three earned).
In total the Aeros had 12 hits, 11 of them singles, but were just 4-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left 11 runners on base.
The Aeros travel to Trenton to open up a three-game series with the Thunder starting at 7:05 tonight.
