Brach Earns EL Pitcher of the Week Honors
Aeros RHP Brett Brach was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week, for the period August 27th through September 3rd.
Brach, 24, enjoyed two strong outings during the final week of the regular season. Last Tuesday he tossed seven shutout innings in a 3-1 Akron victory at Altoona. The on Labor Day, Brach led the Aeros to their 82nd win of the season with his scoreless six-inning effort at Richmond. Brach limited the Flying Squirells to just two hits and one walk in Akron's 6-1 regular-season finale victory.
Combined on the week, Brach went 2-0 with 13 shutout innings. He limited the opposition to just four hits and four walks while striking out six.
Getting some run support from his teamates had been a rare occurance for Brach, as the Aeros were shutoiut in three of his prior consecutive starts from Aug. 12th through the 23rd. Brach was on the losing end in each of those games, despite giving up no more than two runs in the games.
On the season, the Indians 10th-round draft pick in 2009 out of Monmouth University, is 5-7 with a 3.65 ERA in 19 games (18 starts). He is scheduled to start Game Five of the Eastern League Western Division Series against Bowie that begins Wednesday in Bowie, Md.
