The Aeros battled back with a five-run fourth inning after giving up seven in the top half, but weren’t able to hold off the Trenton offense in a 13-8 loss at Canal Park on Monday.
The top of the fourth was a sloppy one for the Aeros (6-12) with three wild pitches and an error that led to none of the seven Thunder runs being earned.
The Thunder (11-7) tried to match the Aeros’ sloppy play with a balk and two errors of their own that led to Akron’s five-run answer.
Matt Packer took the loss for the Aeros despite allowing no earned runs (five unearned). He walked four and struck out two in 3⅔ innings of work, dropping his record to 0-2.
Designated hitter Kyle Bellows led the Aeros at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double. He also drove in two, scored a run and hit a sacrifice fly.
Quincy Latimore added a single and a double with an RBI and a run.
