Curve 2, Aeros 1
Adalberto Santos’ one-out, bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the host Altoona Curve an Eastern League win over the Aeros on Wednesday night.
The Aeros broke the scoreless tie in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI ground out by Tyler Holt.
Behind 1-0 in the bottom of the eighth, Santos doubled to lead off the inning and came home when Stefan Welch singled to right field to tie the game at 1-1.
The Aeros wasted 14 hits and left 10 runners on base. Hernandez, Jordan Henry and Matt Lawson had three hits apiece and Jesus Aguilar had two more.
Aeros starter Paolo Espino pitched well in 7⅓ innings, giving up one run on five hits, with a walk and six strikeouts.
Reliever Trey Haley (3-1, 2.03) was the loser, giving up one run on two hits. He walked three and struck out two.
T. J. House (8-4, 3.79) for the Aeros and Kris Johnson (2-2, 2.29) for the Curve are the scheduled pitchers tonight.
