Who: The Aeros (82-59) vs. Bowie Baysox (78-64).
What: Best-of-five first-round Western Division series.
Where: Games 1 and 2 will be played at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, Md., tonight and Thursday. Games 3-5 are scheduled for Canal Park on Friday, Saturday (if needed) and Sunday (if needed). All games are at 7:05 p.m.
Aeros pitchers: Indians right-hander Carlos Carrasco will pitch the first inning of Game 1 on a rehab assignment, then will be followed by right-hander Paolo Espino (7-3, 3.09 ERA). Left-hander T.J. House (8-5, 3.98 ERA) and right-hander Danny Salazar (4-0, 1.85 ERA) will pitch Games 2 and 3. If there is a Game 4, right-hander Toru Murata (3-1, 2.60 ERA) will start and if there is a Game 5, Carrasco will again start the game, followed by right-hander Brett Brach (5-7, 3.65 ERA).
Notebook: The Baysox had not released their playoff rotation as of Tuesday evening, but are expected to start right-hander Dylan Bundy (2-0, 3.24) in Game 1. Bundy is the parent-club Baltimore Orioles’ No. 1 prospect, according to Baseball America. He was 6-3 with a 2.84 ERA in 12 starts at Class-A Frederick after opening the season with Low Class-A Delmarva (1-0, 0.00 ERA in eight starts covering 30 innings). … The Aeros will also have the services of another rehabbing Indians player. Third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall, who is recovering from a broken wrist, will be with the team for the series. … The Aeros were 13-6 against the Baysox this season, but the teams haven’t played since July 29. … The Baysox finished strong, going 21-9 in August to secure the Western Division wild card. … The Aeros won their eighth division title to advance to the playoffs for the 13th time in 24 seasons as the Akron and Canton/Akron franchise. … It is their first trip back to the playoffs since winning the franchise’s third championship in 2009. … The Aeros have a franchise-best staff ERA of 3.03 and their 82 regular-season wins are sixth-best in franchise history. … The Aeros and Baysox have met twice in the postseason. In 1993 the Aeros won in five games and in 2008, they won in four games. … The winner of the series will play the winner of the Eastern League Championship Series between the Trenton Thunder (79-63) and the Reading Phillies (76-66).
