Flying Squirrels 3, Aeros 2
Juan Diaz hit a solo home run but the Aeros offense left four men on base and could not find any rhythm in a 3-2 loss to the Flying Squirrels on Friday night in an Eastern League game in Richmond, Va.
Diaz hit his ninth home run of the season in the top of the fourth inning and Roberto Perez scored on a fielder’s choice in the top of the fifth, but it was all the Aeros could do against Flying Squirrels starting pitcher Craig Westcott.
Westcott pitched seven innings and gave up two runs off four hits and struck out two for the win. The Aeros had six hits in the game and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position against Richmond’s pitching.
Aeros starting pitcher Giovanni Soto (6-7) went five innings and gave up three runs, two earned, off six hits and struck out one in the loss.
Tyler Holt, Jordan Henry, Thomas Neal and Nick Weglarz also had hits for the Aeros.
The Aeros play the Flying Squirrels tonight at 6:35.
