Lawson’s sacrifice fly lifts Aeros to 2-1 victory

Aeros 2, Senators 1

Matt Lawson’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning scored Jordan Henry to break a 1-1 tie and give the Aeros a 2-1 win over the Senators in an Eastern League game in Harrisburg on Tuesday.

Henry singled to start the inning and advanced to third on a single by Jesus Aguilar.

Lawson, who scored the tying run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Davis Stoneburner, flied out to deep center to drive in the game-winning run.

Jose Lozada hit a solo home run in the first inning to give the Senators an early 1-0 lead, but they left eight on base and were 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position for the game.

Aeros starting pitcher Paolo Espino gave up one run on six hits and struck out eight in five innings but was not involved in the decision. Reliever Rob Bryson (5-3) earned the win and Preston Guilmet pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his 20th save of the year.

Lawson and Henry each had two hits to lead the Aeros.

The Aeros are 71-50 and in first place in the Western Division of the Eastern League.

The Aeros play the Senators at 12:05 p.m. today.
