Rock Cats 5, Aeros 2
New Britain Rock Cats pitchers Pat Dean and Cole Johnson kept the Aeros quiet all night, combining to give up just two runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking just one in an Eastern League game.
The visiting Aeros (53-57) quickly fell behind 2-0 when the Rock Cats (51-59) took the lead with back-to-back sacrifice flies following Aeros errors.
The deficit became 5-0 in the fifth inning when Daniel Ortiz hit a three-run homer off Aeros starter Matt Packer.
Packer went five innings, giving up three earned runs and six hits, and striking out three.
The Aeros came to life in the sixth inning thanks to an RBI double from Jesus Aguilar and a Carlos Moncrief RBI groundout. But that was not enough as the Aeros could only muster one hit in the final three innings.
Aguilar led the way offensively for the Aeros, going 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
Francisco Lindor was the only other Aeros player to have two hits. He singled twice and scored and is now batting .327.
