RubberDucks 8, Curve 4
Storylines: The RubberDucks were already ahead 7-0 by the second inning, but that didn’t keep things from getting interesting late in the game Friday at Canal Park. And it wasn’t because of the score. Indians top prospect Francisco Lindor, who hit a game-winning grand slam the previous night, hit a bases-loaded double in the third inning to break things open. In the seventh, Lindor saw two fastballs up and in and then one behind him. The benches cleared, but there were no ejections.
Quick hits: Tyler Holt led the Ducks’ offense, reaching base four times on two singles and two walks and scoring once. Bryan LaHair and Tony Wolters each singled and doubled, driving in a run each. Starting pitcher Gabriel Arias improved to 4-3. He threw six innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits and three walks, striking out three. Shawn Armstrong threw two scoreless inning to finish things off and earned his fifth save.
Next: 6:35 p.m. today at Canal Park. Right-hander Joe Colon (1-2, 2.94 ERA) for the Ducks and right-hander Nick Kingham (1-2, 3.38) for the Curve are the scheduled pitchers.
