RubberDucks 9, Curve 7
Story lines: Power isn’t the reason Francisco Lindor is one of the top prospects in baseball, but that didn’t stop him from flashing some pop in Thursday’s win. Lindor hit a no-doubt grand slam with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning to complete a seven-run comeback. The Ducks trailed 7-2, scored two in the seventh inning and five in the eighth, capped by Lindor’s blast.
Quick hits: The Ducks racked up 15 hits, with Lindor and Tyler Naquin getting three each. Naquin doubled twice, drove in three runs and scored three times. Lindor’s other two hits were both singles, he drove in four. Jordan Smith led the Ducks with three singles and a double, scoring twice. Kyle Crockett earned his fifth save and Jordan Cooper picked up the win, improving to 3-0.
Next game: Today at 6:35 p.m. at Canal Park in Akron. Right-hander Gabriel Arias (3-2, 3.75 ERA) for the Ducks and right-hander Tyler Sample (2-1, 2.57) for the Curve are the scheduled pitchers.
