BEREA: The Browns' free agency frenzy continued Saturday night when New England Patriots receiver Donte Stallworth signed a seven-year contract.
ESPN.com reported the deal was for $35 million, with $10 million guaranteed.
He will become the Browns' No. 2 receiver opposite Braylon Edwards, with Joe Jurevicius moving to No. 3. The Browns will be the fourth team in four years for Stallworth, 27.
The six-year veteran was chosen 13th overall in the 2002 draft by the New Orleans Saints. He spent 2006 with the Philadelphia Eagles. The AFC champion Patriots deemed him expendable because he was due a $6 million option bonus Feb. 25 and a $2 million roster bonus Saturday.
Stallworth caught 46 passes for 697 yards and three touchdowns last season. His 15.2 average per catch equaled that of his teammate Randy Moss.
''Donte will be the major addition to our offense this year,'' General Manager Phil Savage said in a statement. ''He will bring legitimate speed, quickness and playmaking ability to the receiving corps and add a different dimension to the skill players we already have in place.''
