Crennel not optimistic receiver healthy enough to play at all this season

BEREA: The season for Browns receiver Joe Jurevicius probably is done before it began.
The 10-year veteran contracted a staph infection in his right knee after a routine surgery in January and has needed at least three more clean-out procedures.
Jurevicius is on the physically unable to perform list, and the Browns have until Tuesday to decide whether to allow him to start practicing or leave him on the PUP list. On Wednesday, coach Romeo Crennel didn't sound optimistic about the future of Jurevicius, at least in 2008.
''We will be coming out with a statement about Joe at the end of the week or the beginning of next week about what his status is. Generally it doesn't look very good,'' Crennel said.
An ESPN.com report quoted a league source as saying ''it's 99 percent sure that he's done for the season.'' But Jurevicius might not be ready to fill out his retirement papers, especially because he grew up in Cleveland and played at Lake Catholic High School in Mentor.
Jurevicius was slated for the No. 3 receiver spot after playing the No. 2 role a year ago. The Browns have felt the effects of his absence, especially because he ranked third in the league in third-down receptions in 2007 with 29. This year, the Browns don't have a receiver in the top 50.
They're back
Returning to practice on a limited basis were defensive end Shaun Smith (left hand surgery Oct. 1), safety Mike Adams (hamstring) and linebacker Shantee Orr (foot).
Smith has missed the past three games, Adams the past two and Orr the past one.
Smith had his cast off but said he would wear some type of covering during the game.
''I've been itching to play,'' Smith said. ''But the last few weeks I got to see things that go on during a game that I never really get to see. I was kind of like a little coach.''
Receiver Donte' Stallworth (quad) also was limited. Sitting out were strong safety Sean Jones (knee), right tackle Ryan Tucker (knee), fullback Lawrence Vickers (ankle) and defensive end Corey Williams (shoulder).
Brownies
Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh said surgery is an option for cornerback Chris McAlister, who recently got a second opinion and missed practice due to a knee injury. Also sitting out were running back Willis McGahee (ankle) and tight end Daniel Wilcox (thigh). . . . The Browns exercised a club option to extend radio broadcast rights with Clear Channel's WTAM (1100-AM) and WMMS (100.7-FM) through the 2009 season.

Joe, Hope to see you playing again in '09 for the Browns!
Is Ryan Tucker only going to play one game this year ?? He doesn't play a down all year until the Giants game, plays that whole game, and hasn't played a down since !! What the hell is wrong with his knee ??
say it ain't so JOE
Glen, surely you can't criticize Tucker for what he's been limited to this year. He came back from a broken hip and played his tail off, consequently hurting his knee in the process. I'm sure it's not because he's a being a p u ssy. He's getting old and but acts as a great resource for all the other lineman.
Say it ain't Joe-woah-woah, 'O Eight is a Heartbreaker ...
