Shockey says LeBron not NFL material

CLEVELAND (AP) — LeBron James, NFL player. Just a fantasy, says New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey.

The Cavaliers' All-Star forward caused a stir this week by saying he could be "really good" if he committed himself to playing football. The remarks set off debate about James' football talents and prompted Browns coach Eric Mangini to joke that James should "come on down" and help his 1-8 team.

Cleveland nose tackle Shaun Rogers initially sacked James' belief. Now Shockey has piled on.

On his Twitter page, Shockey wrote: "Everyone trust me Lebron James could not play in the NFL! espn is crazy to even think he could even make a practice squad. hes a 4.9 40 time."

James was an All-State wide receiver in high school.

Lebron you talk too much. focus on winning a championship NBA championship first. First it was retiring #23 for jordon then it was the football comments. Lebron your no michael Jordon!!! Win a title then you can run your mouth a little.

Wow, you guys have no mercy! How might this differ from when Michael tried baseball--in vain? Just a bit of fantasy talk!

Leave LeBron alone, he can do and say whatever he wants. Lighten up and get a life.

If he took a year or two and worked out & practiced, he'd be a great football player. Who care what Jeremy Shockey says... What has he ever done besided being overpaid and under performing. That is one thing LeBron is not.

What is with you fans that just love to hate all of your hometown atheletes. We've got one of the best basketball players ever to lace up a pair of tennis shoes and all of you angry, middle-age white guys can only bash them. How did this disease develop, it's so sad. If I was LeBron I would leave to get away from the negative attitude of the old grumpy NE Ohio sports fans.

I bet Lebron can outrun & out play Jeremy Shockey.
Beside James never brought up the whole thing about the Browns, it was a sports new reporter & with a high school NFL Team like the Brownies he would prolly be there best offensive player.

Whatever happened to the "godfather" from wadstucky that thought the browns were going to be sooooo good this year? Laboob needs to focus on winning a championship in one sport before getting crushed in the NFL.
